Research

Our research programs are designed to create a deep understanding of the potential of AI across the spectrum of medical discovery, development and manufacturing. By 2030 ACAMI seeks to become an internationally significant and commercially sustainable global centre for AI in medical innovation.
RESEARCH FOCUS
ACAMI will focus on the research, development and application of AI to immunotherapy and vaccines for cancer, infectious diseases and cardiovascular disease.
The centre will build upon La Trobe’s research expertise in AI, machine learning, data science /analytics, engineering, robotics and automation and its partnerships with researchers and world-leading technology companies.
RESEARCH PROGRAMS
Our research areas are cohesive, with each program complementary of one another. The ACAMI research plan is focused on the following themes:
This research track seeks to harness the power of AI for the prediction of neoantigens and other targets for immunotherapy cancer treatments, novel drugs, and vaccines.
Research to utilise AI innovations, human genetics, and stem cells for precision, personalised medicine for cancer and other diseases.
Optimise the immunotherapy manufacturing pipeline using state-of-the-art AI, IoT, and data science.
Investigate and create responsible and explainable AI solutions for medical innovations to guide policy makers and industry.
Leverage AI for early detection and diagnostics of cancer.
Together, these themes will address and improve every stage of the immunotherapy pipeline. From conducting fundamental immunotherapy research to translating research from the laboratory into clinical protocols and applications.

La Trobe Clinical Trials Platform
The La Trobe La Trobe’s Clinical Trials Platform provides tools, resources and support in the design, coordination, management, and delivery of high-quality clinical trials. The platform offers full suite of services, adhering to quality standards and regulatory requirements. This provides important connections to clinical partners and support across the clinical trial life-cycle.
